Finley Jane is 1! Mommy is still in denial, but it has already been a year since this sweet, happy girl entered our lives. Finley has been the happiest, most easy going baby we could have imagined and she has fit seamlessly into our (and big sister's) hearts.
• She is constantly moving, smiling and laughing!
• She can't walk alone yet, but is speedily pushing her walker or cruising along the couch
• She has mastered going up stairs, but seems to have not interest in mommy' suggestion of coming down backwards- cue mommy's heart attacks!
• She is starting to test out standing alone (really at 12.5-13 months), but often gets too excited at her accomplishment and plops down
• She is still missing her bottom left front tooth. It leaves her with an adorable grin, but mommy is beginning to wonder if it is ever going to come in
• She can say Mama, Dada (although she rarely uses it), Harper (in her own way), woof woof, quack, rawr, more and ball, ba-ba (for binkie), hippo (in her own way) and judge (for dziadziu). She also seems to saying "car" a lot but we haven't determined if she really knows that word or if she is trying to say something else.
• She is still short, but is no longer our teensy girl. Her 12 months stats were 20lbs 8oz (40%tile) and 28.5 inches (29%tile).
• She has a fantastic laugh that fills a room (or an airplane, as the case may be).
• She loves to eat... And eat and eat and eat. If someone is eating something, they better share or she will make her displeasure known.
• She is very attached to her lovey (her purple hippos) and had three of them in her crib (along with 6 binkies). She loves to put the hippos in her mouth and rub the tags.
• She is already learning so much from big sister (including that that brushes and clips go in her hair and that crowns are for her head).
• Our girls are drawn to each other, sometimes too much. We often have to remind Harper to give Finley some space (no laying on her, gentle hugs, etc) and correct Finley for her incessant pulling of Harper's hair).
• She attended her first ND football game this month (last year was too cold for her) and seemed to enjoy the excitement. She didn't even seem to mind mommy's yelling! Like any good young Irish fan, she bounces and pumps her fist for the fight song!
• Like her sister, she is a dancer already. If there is music on she is bouncing (which may contribute to why she hasn't stood unassisted yet- she is never still enough).
Not to be outdone by her sister, she got to celebrate her birthday three times. Below are some of the pictures.
