Watch me grow

Finley was not very interested in getting these pictures taken, but her older sister was more than willing to participate!

It is almost impossible for me to believe our littlest girl is already a month old. It has been a whirlwind, but a good one.

She is quite a little peanut, weighing 7lbs 12oz at her 4 week weight check (compared to Harper at 9lbs 2oz).

A few highlights:
• Much like the first time around,
We didn't slow down much after baby. Finley started tagging along to dance and ECFE classes and playgrounds within a week of being born.
• She is a pretty good sleeper, usually sleeping between 4-6 hours in her first strength at night
• She is struggling to work gas through her system and it breaks my heart to listen to her pained cry!
• She is much more awake now and seems to take everything in
• She is pretty low key- except in the evening. She usually expects to eat from the second I put Harper to bed (around 6:45) until she falls asleep between 9 and 930.
• Her big sister still loves to tickle her toes and comes in my room every morning declaring that she wants to "see her"
• Harper has never questioned the nursing process, but is quick to declare that "she needs food from you" anytime she cries. (She is also starting to declare that I need to feed her baby dolls too).
• Finley admittedly gets less floor time than her sister did (because I am not confident that that sister won't step/dance/roll/fall on her), but her neck is getting stronger quickly. (Similar to her sister she had a very strong neck right away)
• I don't know if it is due to her size or his memory, but Adam thinks Finley is much "floppier" than Harper

After 3 weeks of grandparent help, we all seem to be adapting to life as a foursome. (Poor Hesburgh just looked at us with a look that said "really?! Again?!").
Everyday is a new adventure and we are certainly along for the ride!

Watch me grow!

This is posted two weeks late, but I promise the picture was taken at 1 week old.

*their size doesn't look too different in these pictures but Finley really was smaller/more petite to start out.

A little update:
• Finley took her time gaining weight! She dropped from 7lbs 4oz at birth to 6lbs 10oz at the hospital. She got pretty comfortable at 6lbs 14oz and stayed there for a few weeks. Finally, after a much monitoring, she surpassed her birth weight, reaching 7lbs 6oz at just about 3 weeks old.
• She has been a pretty low key baby (something her mommy is very thankful for).
• She has been a good sleeper so far. (Giving mommy first stretches at night of between 4-6 hours).
• She has a fussy stretch in the evening- usually right after big sister goes to bed (which is good for mommy's ability to pay adequate attention but not so good for mommy's ability to sit down and eat dinner or relax!)
• Harper is in love with "her baby".
• Harper can often be heard saying "her happy!" Or "her awake" and if Finley cries Harper is quick to tell me "her needs food from you"

Our 3 becomes 4!

Harper made the big announcement to family back in the spring:






And on September 11, 2013 we headed to the hospital at 5am for our scheduled C-section. Just like the first time around, we didn't find out the gender beforehand, but we both seemed to have a feeling we might have a boy. Pre-op and surgery went smoothly (so much less dramatic when you know what to expect and the surgery is planned). At 7:27am we welcomed our second little PRINCESS! She weighed 7lbs 4oz at birth and was 20.5" long. It took us all day to finalize a name, but we are proud to introduce Finley Jane Reeves.




















Big Sister Harper is very proud. Upon meeting her sister she said "that's my baby sister, she's cute!"

Watch Me Grow!

We almost forgot the "Watch me grow!" picture this year- but luckily daddy remembered. It is a little late (she is 26 months in the recent pictures, instead of 24, but you get the idea!).

Harper: Age Two

Life with our busy toddler has left me short of time to update the blog. However, I don't want to miss a chance to record what Harper is like right now, so below is a little update about our little firecracker.
• She talks constantly and we can't believe how much she understands
• She loves to sing (and perform). One of our favorites is the ABCs because she ends it with "how I wonder what you are" and breaks into "twinkle twinkle").
• She (wisely) thinks her daddy is her prince and has started to call him "prince" interchangeably with daddy.




• She is very attached to us right now. As always, she is her mommy's little girl, but she has also been very close with daddy (and gets upset when the topic of him going to work comes up).
• She continues to have a huge personality




• She has developed a "cheese" face and it is difficult to get a picture with just a regular smile.
Example:




• She is hot and cold with Hesburgh. One minute she will be hugging him and dragging him around by the collar, the next minute she will be telling him to "move away" when he tries to sit too close to us.
(It sure is cute when they are cuddling though, or when she "takes him to the playground").




• She loves her new neighborhood and thinks she is one of the "big kids". She asks to go outside and see "her friends" at least twice a day. Unfortunately she doesn't seem to understand that they aren't always outside waiting for her.

• She is very determined and opinionated. She never "wants" something... She "NEEDS" everything/everyone.
• She is 100% girl... Everything can be related to a princess or dancing in some way.




• She has renewed attachment to her pink bunny. If she doesn't have it she will often get upset and say "I NEED my bunny".
• She already has good taste... When she sees an ND on our clothes, etc. she says "Notre Dame" and if we say Notre Dame she says "Go Irish!"
• She is definitely our little
Diva and she knows what she wants! (Every morning she comes to snuggle and let mommy rest a bit longer. Shortly after hitting the bed she demands someone go get her a "snacky!" for breakfast in bed).




• Sadly she seems to have her mommy's "grazing" eating habits.
• At her 2 year checkup she was 34.25 inches and 28lbs.

The Princess turns Two!

This post is very delayed, but better late then never right?

Harper got to celebrate her 2nd birthday several times (would you expect anything less). Once in Pennsylvania with Grams and Dziadziu, once on her real birthday and once with her buddies the following weekend! Needless to say she loved all the celebration!
