Watch Me Grow

I swear I wrote an 8 month blog on time, but I have had trouble with my app and it won't post! So here is the recreated version:

Little miss personality is 8 months old! This month's pictures do a pretty good job reflecting her personality and her relationship with her sister.

Our baby girl has really come a long way the last few weeks.

•She is a social butterfly, just like her sister

• She is doing much better with tummy time/pushing up- even showing signs if wanting to crawl

• She far prefers to stand rather than sit

• She is grunting and babbling "dada" and "baba" a lot- no mama in sight though!

• She still hasn't figured out naps (this is a trend I would really like to break).

• She grew a bit! She was weighed around 8 months and was 14th percentile! (15lbs, 12oz)

• She is loving solid food- but really loving finger food. Cheerios, yogurt melts, puffs, etc.

• We are transitioning from bottles to more real food meals. Right now we are at about 3-4 bottles a day.

• She is still in love with her sister

• She got her craniocap off! Her head is not perfect, but SO much more symmetrical now and she has an adorable head of hair!

Big Girl!!

Our big girl took a big step about a month ago. We ushered in April with a potty trained girl. She had been using the potty occasionally for a while, but about half way through March (so at about 33 months) the light bulb seemed to go on and Harper decided she was a big girl. She wasn't shy about telling people either!



She spent many hours without pants on (and sometimes without undies too), but she really got the hang of it quickly (and on her own). She owns more underwear (princesses, Minnie, etc) than I thought possible but she is excited and proud and that is all that mattered to us!

Watch Me Grow

"Hmm, can I eat this thing?"



Finley is 7 months old! I can't believe time is flying by so quickly.

She is a very happy baby (unless she is hungry) and she brings such sunshine to our lives.

Here are a few updates:
• She started sitting up on her own right around the 7 month mark
• She is liking almost all the "solid" foods she has tried (not a big fan of peas)
• We are working on strengthening her upper body, because she is very ready to crawl but doesn't have the stamina to hold herself up for long
• She has the most infectious laugh
• She is enthralled with her big sister and the feeling is mutual
• She sleeps pretty well, but still hasn't figured out naps (does this sound familiar?), and wakes way too early in the morning (between 5 and 5:45).
• She is still a peanut (6th percentile at last measurement) but she really packs a lot into her little body- she really looks like a chunky monkey now, but just a tiny one!
• She is full of noises- grunts, squeals, etc. she has toyed with "dadada" but stops when I encourage it.
• She grabs everything and always wants something in her mouth
• She still only has one tooth
• Her head is much rounder now and we actually hope to be out of the helmet soon

Every Princess Needs a Crown

Not to be outdone by her princess loving sister, Finley decided she needed a crown, too.

We noticed her head was a bit asymmetrical a few months ago and over time it didn't seem to improve. She was diagnosed with torticollis (the muscle on one side of her neck were weaker than the other) so she was favoring looking to/ sleeping on the right. As a result, our Fincess has been going to physical therapy (and doing great) and wearing a "craniocap" (a helmet that reshapes the head by holding some bones in place, allowing growth in other areas). She wears the cap 23 hours a day and despite my fear that she would have a hard time, I quickly learned that the only adjustment necessary was mine. Mommy was a little sad to cover up her beautiful baby's head, but once we decorated the helmet I grew to love it.

Best buddies

These little girls are best buddies. Harper tells people Finley is "her baby" and if someone gets too close to her she defensively declares "no that's MY sister". She doesn't even get upset when Finley grabs or pulls her hair! We love this sister relationship- we'll see how it develops as Finley becomes more mobile and starts to "share" toys!

Watch Me Grow

It is hard for me to believe, but our little Finley has been with us for half a year already! Our pint sized princess is 6 months old!









Update:
• She is interacting all the time now- she has a adorable smile and makes lots of coo and gurgle sounds
• She is grabbing ahold of everything and putting anything she can into her mouth
• Saying she loves her sister is an understatement. She is enthralled with Harper and can often be heard giggling uncontrollably at something she does.
• She is eating about 35%breastmilk/ 65% formula now
• She started solid foods this weekend- well, if you consider puréed prunes solid! She actually seemed to like them quite a bit.
• She rolls both ways now, but still seems to reserve back to tummy rolls for her crib and tummy to back rolls for ANY time we attempt tummy time!
• She is still our pint size princess. At her 6 month appointment she weighed 13 lbs 1oz (5th percentile) and was 24 and 3/4 inches (17th percentile).
